"We are all about the Details"

This page is just a little something about my father.

Jewell Harold Hallmon

He was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Lafayette, Ala., to Jewell P. and Lillie Pearl Lee Hallmon, but resided in Bay County, Fla., for most of his life. Mr. Hallmon was a Christian and was Baptist by faith. He grew up in St. Andrews, Fla., and attended Bay High School, graduating in 1957. He also attended Gulf Coast Community College. He married Anna Jane Stephens, and together they had four children.

All of his adult life, Mr. Hallmon had a passion for flying and owned and flew several small planes, with his latest one being an ultra light. In his early years, he worked at Sunshine Grocery, Retail Credit Co., and also served for a time in the Army National Guard before finding his true calling as a master carpenter.

For more than 30 years, he strived for the highest of excellence in his skill, which he passed on to his two sons. His beautiful finish work is seen in many of the fine homes and businesses in this area. In recent years, Mr. Hallmon finely crafted grandfather clocks for all of his children.

Surrounded by his family at the home he called his “paradise in the woods,” Harold Hallmon, 67, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 31, 2007.

This is just one of the poems he wrote .

  DEER ONES

They glide out of the woods each day at early morn,
To see if the chicken’s dish has been filled up with corn.

Ever so quiet and cautiously they enter the back yard,
Ears twitching ever nervous must make life very hard.

They check on the corn and graze under the plum tree,
And walk right up to the house not ten feet from me.

They probably can’t see me through the window pane, The minute I step outside they run like a puffing train.

Their tails standing up like a raised bright flag of white,
They run ninety miles an hour till they are out of sight.

Most of the deer we see are the does with a young fawn,
Big bucks are much too cautious to graze upon my lawn.

The deer are very welcome on my little piece of ground, Because it is comforting just knowing they are around.

I will never hunt them or make them unwelcome here,
What would this place be like if it weren’t for the deer.?

Thank you for everything.

Love John.
